Future Housing Programme
After the success of Housing Dominica and the Housing Recovery Project, the time has come to engage in another family-friendly, master-planned development.
As a further broadening of the plans announced in the budget the Government intends to foster greater community growth, and giving a wider cross section of working Dominicans particularly youth and working force the opportunity to own their homes.
The Government aims to promote new community development and family growth by further assisting the identified groups to own homes in a new resilient community.
As articulated in the Dominica Labour Party Manifesto of 2019, “Dominicans will be properly housed and the national housing and property stock will be amongst the highest quality and most hurricane resilient in the Caribbean”.
This novel initiative is consistent with the Dominica Climate Resilience and Recovery Plan 2020-2030 which clearly set targets for more than 90% of housing built or retrofitted to resilient building codes.
